22.03.20202915Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowMaster branch compiled firmware interleaved network!TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

Speculation is dnsmasq DNS resolution problems caused by!!

25.02.20202860ToolchainBug ReportVery LowLowtools/firmware-utils/mkcameofw not foundTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

Attempting to produce a factory.bin for the hardware identical devices D-Link DIR-810L and Trendnet TEW-810DR. In order to flash over the factory image, a short tag needs to be appended to firmware image. See the device pages:
]https://openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-810l?s[]=810l] [[https://openwrt.org/toh/trendnet/trendnet_tew-810dr_1.0_1.1?s[]=tew&s[]=810dr

Both pages use a tool that is provided in both the D-Link and Trendnet GPL source download for the respective device.
I can confirm that one cannot flash over the factory image on the Trendnet without appended tag.

I found a prior mailing of someone needing to accomplish the same task and the respondent complained about the lack of documentation. The submitter wrote his own.
https://jmomo.net/files/lede/patch_sets/v16-0002-ipq806x-Add-support-for-new-device-tew827dru.patch

I attempted to use mkcameofw/cameofw in a git pull versioned to 19.07.1 and the build error out, unable to find tool mkcameofw/cameofw.

A couple of points:

1. mkcameofw seems to be broken and unused. Both the device pages
describe the use of GPL‘d ncc_att_hwid after the build for the initial
install.

2. I’ve searched for the documentation for ncc_att_hwid and cameo
signature and only came up with it being applied in OpenWRT/DD-wrt.

3. Users are working around the broken code manually.

4. ncc_att_hwid is GPL‘d and could be included in the build tree.

5. The respective cameo signatures can be seen in the hex output of the D-Link and Trendnet firmware.

6. If the project could either adapt ncc_att_hwid or the previously submitted tool, factory flash bins could be produced for several devices.

13.02.20202832Base systemBug ReportVery LowCriticalD-link DIR-885L firmware doesn't match due to regional ...openwrt-19.07Unconfirmed Task Description

According to the hardware support list, D-link DIR-885L HW A1 is supported, therefore, I have acquired one in China, it clearly stated the HW revision is A1 but its WIFI is not supported with the original firmware 19.07.1

after I flashed the firmware in discovery mode , the wireless tab is not shown in the system. Checked wifi configuration and the file was empty. I found there’s another driver for A2 hardware in the product page, I downloaded it, put it in the designated directory, restarted the router and my wifi appears.

but the driver doesn’t work well. The 2.4g (radio0) can not be started most of the time, some time I alter the configuration of radio0 might bring it up, but even I’ve managed to find the SSID, I can’t connect it. always prompt wrong password.

the 5g (radio1) is better. if I fix the channel, restart the router every time I change the configuration (even change password), it usually make the router works.

I think the Device sold in China is different from other area, the default firmware (which supports A1) doesn’t support Chinese A1 hardware, the A2 firmware driver (BCM4366c) supports the Chinese A1 hardware but doesn’t work well since the driver was dated 2017.

with this BCM4366C driver provided in A2 firmware, I can only have 5G fix Channel WPA2 security wifi service, it’s usable, but all other function are not working, not even one.

I opened the router, tried to provide the chip information but the chips are covered by metal jacket and fixed to the mother board. I have manufacture’s original latest firmware, I think the proper driver may be extracted from it but I’m not capable to do it. I can provide the file as requested. Can’t post here, the file is too big.

19.07-SNAPSHOT

I am trying to put together an image for gl-b1300 (ipq40xx) using the image builder and it is failing with the error below. I looked at the base packages for 19.07 and the htt variants are missing for all ath10k-firrmware-qca supported targets. I also checked ipq806x for 19.07 and the htt firmware is present there.
Looking at master: the ipq40xx target does include htt packages.

Are the htt firmware files excluded from ipq40xx in 19.07 for a reason?

Collected errors:

09.01.20202719Base systemBug ReportVery LowHighBuffalo WBMR-HP-G300H: DSL does not connect at all with...openwrt-19.07Unconfirmed Task Description

Supply the following if possible:
- Device problem occurs on: Buffalo WBMR-HP-G300H
- Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.: OpenWRT 19.07, kmod-ltq-adsl-ar9-fw-a 0.1-1, which shows up as 4.4.4.0.0.1 in dsl_control status.
- Steps to reproduce:

1. Get an ADSL line from Rostelecom.
2. Upgrade the router to OpenWRT 19.07.
3. Reboot.

Result: DSL does not connect. In /etc/init.d/dsl_control status, it goes through all phases, then briefly shows as “Up”, but then the “dsl0” interface is not created, and the following lines are logged in dmesg:

 [ 56.597766] [DSL_BSP_Showtime 914]: Datarate US intl = 1024000, fast = 0
[ 56.603091] [DSL_BSP_Showtime 934]: no hookup from ATM driver to set cell rate

The error does not exist with the 4.5.4.9.1.1 firmware obtained from unofficial sources. The bug has been submitted through the affected ADSL line with the unofficial firmware.

20.04.20192246Base systemBug ReportVery LowMediumLatency is over 360ms for game PUBG for ath10k-ct firmw...TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

We are developing a router based on IPQ4019.

In trunk, file target/linux/ipq40xx/Makefile, it uses ath10k-firmware-qca4019-ct, which is firmware provided by Candela Technologies.

In branch openwrt-18.06, file target/linux/ipq40xx/Makefile, it uses ath10k-firmware-qca4019.

We are experiencing the issue that when connect Android phone to our IPQ4019 router and start game PUBG, latency is over 360ms, this makess this game not playable. Screen capture is here (please see upper right corner of below screen capture):
https://xbing6.tumblr.com/post/184241270647/router-firmware-bug-pubc-latency-is-over-360ms

Replace ipq4019 firmware with version 3.6 from kvalo (link as below), this issue is gone.
https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/tree/master/QCA4019/hw1.0/3.6 - This confirms that this is an issue with ath10k firmware provided by Candela Technologies.
- ct-firmware is enabled by default in trunk.

Connect another PC to our IPQ4019 router, go to speedtest.net in browser to test, there is no latency issue.

(My theory is that PUBG (running in Android phone) does not *constantly* generate enough internet traffic and IPQ4019 sleeps. IPQ4019 waking up causes this 360ms latency in PUGB game.)

Steps to reproduce:
- Power on ipq4019 router as AP.
- Connect Android phone to this AP and try to play PUBG.
- Latency is over 360ms and makes this game un-playable.
- Connect another PC to this IPQ4019 router, go to speedtest.net in browser to test, there is no latency issue.

When running vdsl_fw_install.sh from the ltq-vdsl-vr9-vectoring-fw-installer package, it tries to download https://www.telekom.de/hilfe/downloads/firmware-speedport-w921v-1.44.000.bin which does not exist anymore on the server.

There is a new version (1.45) out though.

Also, I had to install this package (ltq-vdsl-vr9-vectoring-fw-installer) manually, as it is not available in the repos of 18.06.

Warm regards and thanks for the good work!

Tom

1 compile and flash
2 bring up the 5 GHz wifi interface
3 check the dmesg output
4 the wifi may or may not start when enabled

The CPU usage is pretty high (close to 80-90% used by sirq) when transferring 50-80 Mbps of data from the Internet. Packets are lost sometimes over the wifi and the wifi appears unstable overall. This packet loss doesn’t occur when pinging directly from the router.

The router is on a 5 GHz channel which is free.

I had to push the wifi on/off switch to get the wifi to work.

02.05.20181529Base systemFeature RequestVery LowLowPreserve oem firmware in spare partitionTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

I’ve been having lots of problems with my WRT1200AC router. The 2.4GHz wifi and ethernet are not working, and no amount of reflashing or resetting seems to help. I’d like to try reverting to the Linksys firmware, but I’m finding that’s not working either (https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT1200AC-flashing-to-Linksys-firmware-from-OpenWRT-kernel-panic/td-p/1307907).

On the DD-WRT forum I’ve learned that a common “trick” is to keep the official firmware on the spare partition permanently, so that it’s always possible to get back to a clean slate. I definitely regret not doing that. But OpenWRT automatically flashes to the opposite partition.

Could this be changed so that LuCI allows the option of choosing which partition gets written to? It could be an “advanced” option. Perhaps with language like:

* Flash to CURRENT partition (”linux2”), leaving existing alternate partition (”linux1”) as recovery partition
* Flash to ALTERNATE partition (”linux1”), and make current OpenWRT partition (”linux2”) the recovery partition

It would be extra nifty to display what’s on the partitions already as well.

03.03.20181406Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowASUS RT-N15U TTL STAYS ON TTL=100 AFTER FLAHSING THE LE...TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

DEVICE: ASUS RT-N15U

FIRMWARE FLASHED: BOTH LEDE17014 AND LEDE TRUNK LATESTS

BUG REPORT: AFTER BURNING THE FIRMWARE UNDER CFE, THE FIRST REBOOT IS OKEY, BUT WHEN AFTER FINALISING THE CONFIGURATION FOR THE LEDE AND DURING THE SECOND REBOOT, THE SYSTEM STAYS ON TTL=100, THAT MEANS, IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES INTO THE CFE INTERFACE.
