The dmesg shows a bad eraseblock 258 at 0×000002040000, this results in an unreadably factory partition. Symptoms: unreadable MAC addresses (as shown in the dmesg) and TX power on the radios limited to 6dBm, probably because of unreadable calibration data.

A hexdump of the factory partition shows correct contents, but shifted by 0×20000 bytes.

When connected 100 Mbps cable into WAN port i have upload speed regression (Speedtest and iperf3)

Regression on 1 Gbs Lan, 2.4 and 5GHz clients. If i changed lan port on lan card to 100Mbs FD - no regression оn this client, but i see it on other 1Gbs lan cliens and wireless.

There is no upload speed regression when connected 1Gbs cable into Wan port. There is no probem on stock firmware

Деградация скорости отдачи на проводных гигабитных клиентах и на Wifi ,если в Wan порт подключен 100 мегабитный кабель. Если на конкретном проводном клиенте переключить порт на 100 Мбит полный дуплекс-регрессия на нем пропадает, но сохраняется на Wifi.
Деградация скорости не наблюдается при подключении гигабитного кабеля в Wan порт. На стоке проблемы нет.

Yesterday I built trunk for my bthh5a.

netifd OOMs 10.5 hours after the last LAN client disassociated. 30 mins after boot, with 3 or 4 LAN clients connected, there is 20M free ram. Looks like there may be a leak somewhere.

for the internal built-in switch for ar934x series
port 5 of the switch is missing, and therefore physical ports
that are connected to port 5 of the internal switch instead of GMAC0
cannot be used.

Attempting to set a VLAN that includes port 5 never takes effect.

This issue is not noticed for many other ar934x boards with 5 physical ports
because routers with 4 LAN and 1 WAN port use GMAC0 for the WAN port
instead of port 5 of the internal switch.

Upon running tcpdump on the bridged lan interface where majority of my clients are connected, many packets were dropped by the Kernel which caused many re-transmissions.

Overall:

If I select the LAN1 on a wg3526 from off to untagged, luci wants to make 2 changes, one of which breaks the configuration:

  it renames the network.lan.ifname from eth0.1 to eth0
  it changes the switch port configuration (that one was expected)

Removing network.lan.ifname=eth0.1 and replacing it by network.lan.ifname=eth0 breaks networking. Rollback properly works.

After some other changes / manually fixing it, I have the following board.json:

Booting the latest snapshot initramfs through TFTP works. I sysupgraded again from the initramfs, and it still bootloops.

- Steps to reproduce:
* Git clone https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt then build with default configuration + enable ath10k & fw.
* Install an ath10k card (tested: QCA9880, QCA6174) on router board, and flash image to device.
* Run `iw list` and every 5GHz band is disabled.

Changing country code via LuCI and `iw reg set` won’t help.

Using ath10k-ct won’t help as well.

ath9k is not affected.

- r14281 from 2020/08/26 is working good.

- Steps to reproduce:

Install the factory image onto the stock firmware - or - install the sysupgrade onto the running r14281.

- Findings:

The snapshot version is booted when attempting to get into JBOOT but doesn’t come up automatically.

Description
It is possible to crash rpcd using uci set method.
To do it we need to set a nonempty list to an empty string and make any other operation with the same section.
For example, change the value of any other option.

The bug is not fixed on the latest version(s) of rpcd/uci.
Successfully reproduced on OpenWrt release 19.07 (VirtualBox).
The bug can be reproduced on any device since it is not hardware dependent.

Steps to reproduce
On clean(after firstboot) openwrt release 19.07 run:

ubus call uci set '{"config":"firewall","section":"cfg02dc81","type":"zone","values":{"network":"","name":"iptv"}}}'

After that rpcd may crash.

Since the bug doesn’t have 100% reproduce you may use such command in a loop to catch crash.

Technical cause
If we set any value to list in UCI via rpcd it deletes the list first and then sets the provided value.
Since we provide an empty string it tries to delete this section once more. As it is already deleted it should be ignored.
However, due to the fact that flags in ptr were not cleared after calling to uci_delete, uci_set “think” that option exists and try to delete it.
Since the pointer to option is null uci_expand_ptr returns the pointer to section instead of an option. So that local section representation will be freed.
Any of the next operations on the same section may crash rpcd, because we get into use-after-free situation.

Proposed fix
Add cleaning of uci_ptr flag for the list after calling to uci_delete in rpc_uci_merge_set.
Please see attached patch.

Also, consider clearing ptr flags in uci_delete along with setting ptr to null for the local representation of section/option.

Kindly ask to integrate it to the base repo. Optionally - make this available via the menuconfig option.

Hardware is TP-Link Archer C7 v2.

I’ve just upgraded to 19.07.5 using prebuilt image “openwrt-19.07.5-ath79-generic-tplink_archer-c7-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin” from some version of LEDE 17, and found that it’s not possible to control LAN/WAN leds anymore. There are tp-link:green:{qss,system,usb1,usb2,wlan2g,wlan5g} leds listed in /sys/class/leds, but there are no mentions of lan1, lan2, lan3, lan4 or wan. I don’t remember which particular version of LEDE it was before. Something from 2017.

Next is just a guess. I’ve tried to bisect code, but without trying to build and run it on the hardware, and found that last time string “tp-link:green:wan” was in the source that was somehow related to Archer C7 v2 was just before 4e4ee4649553ab536225060a27fc320bf54e458c (ar71xx: drop target). In target/linux/ar71xx/files/arch/mips/ath79/mach-archer-c7.c there were two sets of leds. One, registered with mdiobus_register_board_info(), these are now missing. And another, registered with ath79_register_leds_gpio(), these are now present.

Haven’t had a chance to test various versions from bisecting on the actual hardware yet.

Turning wifi off/on the phone clears the issue.

The problem started several months ago (after upgrade to 19.07.4).
Went back to 19.07.3 and still have the problem.

There is no indication of any problem in the kernel log.

Hi!

The problem is that the card registers to network in a weird way and thus the mbim.sh script stops and doesn’t continue attaching to network, ...

The problem has been detected on a Huawei EchoLife HG556a (version C) but seems a general problem.

Also, the problem was with a ID 12d1:1f16 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. K5150 LTE modem but I believe that it can happens on other mbim devices as well.

I believe the problem is more related to the fact that the SIM is from a virtual movile operator which is then using the network from the real operator: Orange, but we didn’t test any other SIMs, so we don’t know if this is more general, if needed we could try to get some other SIMs for testing.

The problem is that when we do the network registration with umbim it gives an error, so it stops there, so we tried to remove that check like this:

Network connection works ok like this and we can access Inet without any problem.

So... either umbim is not exiting with the right exit code, maybe because of that unknown status it says there, or if the exit code is ok, then we should somehow do farder tests and continue like we did, as the connection is good anyway.

This was also tested using latest available snapshot builds with the same results, we have gone back to stable (these logs are from 19.07.4) as the snapshot build was having trouble with the wifi on this router, but the umbim problem and the solution we applied worked the same on snapshot as it does on stable.

The current ModemManager integration in netifd is not fully operational right now, and usually requires an additional management script on top of it to properly reconnect the modems under certain scenarios.

The simplest and most common use case is the following:
* The network interface configured for “modemmanager” protocol is ifup-ed.
* netifd runs the connection start procedure in the protocol handler and the modem gets connected.
* Some time passes, and the network operator decides to disconnect the connection (network-initiated disconnection).
* ModemManager detects the disconnection, reports the bearer objects a “disconnected” and the modem back to only “registered”.
* netifd still thinks the interface is up, and reports it as up everywhere.

What would be the best way to solve this issue?

Is there currently any way to extend the protocol handler in a way that allows some polling inside netifd to ensure the interface is still up? Would that be a big change? Any other solution suggested?

install kmod-sched see that it does not have a full set of qdiscs which reduces the utility of targeted high-interactivity scheduling designs such as:

The most important ones in my mind are:

qfq: an important weighted queue discipline which lets you balance bandwidth within another class, so it’s useful to place below a HFSC class to balance the users within the class in a purposefully weighted *unfair* way. it’s more efficient than drr so if a choice needs to be made between the two for size reasons, qfq is preferable

drr: does similar thing to above but less computationally efficient... probably not needed if qfq can be provided

sfb: this can be a better qdisc if you are trying to do fair queueing on UDP streams which do not respond to signalling the way TCP does, this will tend to delete packets from the “heavy” streams.

Overall it’s important for good custom queueing to have all of the following qdiscs in my opinion:

hfsc, red, cake, qfq, bfifo, pfifo, sfb

maybe it’s related to flow control? it looks like it’s activated (see swconfig output at the end) and I saw some commits that disabled it for these devices on ar71xx but nothing on ath79.
