Hi! I have MT7621 and when to router connected more than 10 peoples router start disconnecting some peoples(have two networks guest and main on 2,4).

There is my settings:

I also noticed that before the client is disconnected from the network, it will lose the Internet.

The upgrade to 19.07.1 didn’t solve the issue. What (temporarily) seem to work is to restart the wlan0 interface. After a few hours the problem comes back. The client is very close to the AP (less than 3 meters, although there is a floor between). Signal quality is reported as very good.

I am using stock 19.07.1 firmware. I also tried changing the regulatory domain from CA to US but it didn’t help.
I will now try with the non-ct driver and firmware to see if it helps, as it worked fine on 18.06 which didn’t include the -ct firmware by default.

This issue is very strange, i don’t even know if it’s just faulty hardware but i have it happening on multiple devices now

Most affected hardware

  • Nanobridge M5 , in this case transmitting enough data can trigger it almost instantly
  • TL-WR841ND , in this case i had it happen like 3-4 times a year
  • CPE 210 v3 , in this case it happens like each week

For the last one, which is running 19.07 i found on the system log

I was using CLAT in an Archer C7 v5 for some testing. Everything worked fine.

I decided then to upgrade to 19.07.1 and everything works fine from the backup that I did from the config, but not the CLAT (464XLAT).

I decided to reflash the unit from scratch and configure everything manually. Same problem, CLAT is not working. I tried even setting the tunnel link to the WAN interface manually in the CLAT interface (advanced settings), instead of the default “unspecified”, played with the firewall settings as well, etc. Nothing resulted.

By the way, even in 18.06.7, which I’m using right now with the CLAT, the CLAT interface doesn’t report any RX/TX or packets. In the same router I’ve installed Collectd and I can see there the traffic being graphed correctly.

So I’m guessing there is some bug there. I’m going to report it as a bug, but just in case someone discovered an easy solution.

I’ve observed that at some point, across numerous tests, a Virtual dynamic interface 464XLAT was created, but it doesn’t allow to edit it, so not sure if this is related. I believe this interface is only created when I’m using PPPoE for the WAN link (I’ve tested 2 scenarios, PPPoE done in the OpenWRT box and PPPoE done in the GPON ONT).

Linksys WRT32X with NAT6 configuration.

On latest 19.07 branch r10959

With the flow_offload feature turned on, nat6 is not working properly.
The first (or several) TCP packets seemed to be fine but later packets were not properly transmitted. The connection was soon closed.

(In case of accessing ipv6.google.com, the browser would freeze. And the curl would freeze after receiving a portion of the HTML content.)

In the meantime, ICMPv6 worked normally.

After removing the FLOWOFFLOAD ip6tables record, everything is fine.
After inserting the `-m conntrack –cstate RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT` before the FLOWOFFLOAD everything is also fine.

IPv4 part looked normal even if flow_offload is on.

NAT6 worked on older versions like 18.04 branch with flow_offload enabled.

Basically, installed openwrt, added external root, all looks correctly configured, but after reboot external root fails to mount.
searching in the logs we can see that usb-storage is only loaded after pre-init, but it is listed in /etc/modprobe-boot.d/ ... checking /rom/etc/modules-boot.d/ it is not there.

Either something is missing in the https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/additional-software/extroot_configuration to add the usb-storage to the pre-init, or something is broken that makes pre-init fail to load usb-storage when it should.

The same setup worked fine with a older openwrt version (15.01 IIRC)

Supply the following if possible:

Install openwrt

Using Openwrt 19.07.2 release;
On TP-Link c2600 & N750(wdr4300 v1.4)

Observed behavior:

Adding a static v4 route i.e 172.16.253.0 via 172.16.253.254 in the Luci Static route page succesfully adds the route, and by default appears to select the local route table. However viewing the routes list in status or via ip r s on cli does not show the entry.

Work-Around:

Ensure that a different table is selected in the 'Advanced tab' then go back in and add it to the correct appropriate route table.



Expected behaviour:

Adding a static route add's it to the system route table irrespective of needing to switch into advanced tab and select a non-default route table first.

This option succeeded and the new build is working normally, thanks

note: Once this issue is resolved, would it be feasible to host upgrade images on a free service like GitHub, so checks for new version could be performed through the web interface (similar to GL.Inet routers)

Environment: Newifi-D2(arch mipsel_24kc), OpenWrt 19.07.1/19.07.2/master branch with kernel 1.14.170+, samba-4.11, a usb-disk with ext4 file system.
(samba4 uses default settings)

I run samba-4.11 server in my router with usb-harddisk of 3T volumes. If the router enables tcp_bbr kernel module with default config file, then lan PCs copying files from the router is very slowly with speed of 4-10MB. The speed of writing files to router’s share is also a little slower.
Without tcp_bbr the speed is up to 40-60MB when copying files from the router.

I found the problem is caused by lack value of “net.core.default_qdisc=fq” in default bbr config file (/etc/sysctl.d/12-tcp-bbr.conf)
The default bbr config file is :

I found that the toolchain of openwrt 19.07 has some issues on x86_64 platform.

For example:
1. I use this sdk to build openwrt-shadowsocks 2. Install the compiled ipk, run the command `ss-local`, will report a `segmentation fault` error.

This error only occurs on openwrt 19.07 x86_64 platform. 19.07 toolchain on other platforms does not have this error, and the 18.06 version of the toolchain on the x86_64 platform also has no such errors.

- Steps to reproduce
The first issue is that rsyslog doesn’t write to or create directories/files inside the /var/log directory beside the log files.
needed to create a work directory for spool and disk-assisted queue files.
using

$CreateDirs on

$WorkDirectory /var/log/rsyslog

I get

I created the directory manually and the error was gone but the directory remained empty even after disconnecting the log server for 24hrs, no spool files were created nor disk-assisted queue files were created either and as a result when connecting the server back after 24hrs the in-memory queue got sent to the server which equals roughly to 10min worth of logs while the WorkDirectory /var/log/rsyslog remained empty.

The second issue is that for a work around I tried using the imfile module to access the log files directly without the need to disk-assisted queues but got this error

The options parameters sendopts define in /etc/config/network seems to be badly formated in the call of the command odhcp6c

In /etc/config/network:

 

option sendopts “11:00 15:456544 16:1234”

is parsed like this (show via ps|grep odhcp6c)
-x11 00 -x15 456544 -x16 1234

The syntax given by the help of odhcp6c is different:

-x <opt>:<val> Add option opt (with value val) in sent packets (cumulative)

		Examples of IPv6 address, string and base-16 encoded options:
		-x dns:2001:2001::1,2001:2001::2 - option 23
		-x 15:office - option 15 (userclass)
		-x 0x1f4:ABBA - option 500
		-x 202:'"file"' - option 202

It appears than the : is replace by a space in the call of the command.
Regarding the help of the command, it should be :
-x 11:00 -x 15:456544 -x 16:1234

Steps to reproduce

  1. Clean flash of 19.x sysupgrade image
  2. Enable 5ghz AP with default settings
  3. Connect to 5ghz with client

Observed Behaviour:

  • Client can authenticate
  • DHCP handshake initiated but not completed

Other notes:

  • If client also connected by ethernet, DHCPACK is received and connection successful. Client continues to have network access over wifi for ~15 seconds after disconnecting ethernet, then disassociates. See log #2.
  • Noticed 5ghz AP non-functional while investigating different issue where all 2.4g clients dropped until radio restarted.
  • Hopefully this is helpful, I am not sure how to debug any deeper than this.

The problem is the rx buffer management in target/linux/ath79/files/drivers/net/ethernet/atheros/ag71xx/ag71xx_main.c: ag71xx_change_mtu adjusts the MTU, but doesn’t adjust rx_buf_size (it’s only set in ag71xx_open).

The attached patch fixes it by always using a large receive buffer. Maybe it is better to change rx_buf_size from ag71xx_change_mtu, but I don’t know how to do that.

Doing the same after patching libpcap to force it to do the filtering in user-space fixes the issue.

I’m using the pre-built OpenWRT firmware for BT HomeHub 5a and am generally very happy with it. The problem that shows up is that every once in a while, the PPPoE connection goes down and stays down. I see in the log that the PPPoE is retried repeatedly but keeps failing. Disabling the corresponding interface and then re-enabling it (e.g. from LuCI) does not help (I do see that it takes the PPPoE and the DSL down and after a while the DSL comes back up but the PPPoE still keeps failing in the same way).

Rebooting fixes the issue, OTOH.

Every test is done with default settings. For me it is easier to debug this issue with openwrt in station mode, but it applies to AccessPoint/Master as well.

  • 2.4 GHz WIFI operation as expected
  • 5 GHz WIFI only affected
  • low throughput only in openwrt TX direction / openwrt RX direction OK
  • things got much worse with openwrt 19.07.02 → openwrt 18.06.08 was better
    This is why I suspect that it is related to FS#1926 - MTD partition offset not correctly mapped when bad eraseblocks present.
    This fix has been integrated in 19.07. I don’t want to revert this change, as this is the first version openwrt sets the correct MAC address.

Comarison of OpenWrt 18.06.08 and 19.07.02

  • OpenWrt 18.06.08: TX Power is set to 3dBm
  • OpenWrt 19.07.02: TX Power is set to 20dBm (default?)
  • In both cases/logs The “HT Mode is VHT80”
  • Changing the TX Power in 19.07.02 has no effect
    Resource is busy

My guess/conclusion is that

  • the calibration data is not taken into account (maybe it was never and openwrt 18.06 was just lucky)
  • The offset to read the calibration data has changed with openwrt 19.07.02. This is why things got worse (for me)

Attached is the mtd4.bin (factory). I don’t know if this helps for this issue.

all static leases can’t be resolved (25 hosts).

In system.log I found this logs each time I (re)start dnsmasq :

I have a Xiaomi 3G router. Since the day I bought it I installed Openwrt and to tell you the truth, with version 18.06 I didn’t have any problem.

A few weeks ago I updated to the new version (19.07) using LuCI and it restarts me randomly.

I tried restoring the router, reinstalling the update and it keeps randomly rebooting. Right now I have it without any additional packages installed and it still keeps rebooting randomly.

I have noticed, that almost every time I see a reboot and look at the log file the first thing that appears is this, that is, the first line after the reboot is:

I have both native IPv6 (wan_6 virtual interface from pppoe) and 6to4. I need 6to4 to connect to other 6to4 peers which is faster than native IPv6 (and sometimes native IPv6 cannot reach 6to4). /var/etc/miniupnpd.conf generated by /etc/init.d/miniupnpd uses 6to4 instead of native IPv6, the file contains the following lines

ext_ifname=pppoe-wan
ext_ifname6=6to4-wan6

I think it’s better to use native IPv6 interface by default.
Additionally, is it possible to add ipv6_disable option to the config? Buggy UPnP clients sometimes put IPv6 address in a IPv4 port mapping request, I’d like to check if disabling IPv6 UPnP would fix it, this problem is mentioned in https://github.com/miniupnp/miniupnp/issues/408

After an hour or so of usage, the router reboots itself with a corrupted filesystem. I’ve attached the log to this bug report. The log contains:

__nand_correct_data: uncorrectable ECC error

so I think there might be a link with the similar problem that the BT HomeHub Version 5A had a long time ago, as per:

The Archer C9 is the only device doing any NAT on the network and is the only DHCP service on the network. To get around the fact that BCM4360 has no drivers I installed a WiFi Dongle. The Archer C9 is the gateway to the internet.

Sometimes any device at random when connecting to the gateway will be unable to acquire an IP Address despite the fact that the system log clearly shows it offered an IP address to a device with the same mac address. There’s a definite working physical link between the device and gateway. Connecting to alternative ‘dumb APs’ on the same network as the gateway results in the same problem; Unable to acquire an IP address. Asking the device’s DHCP client to renew the address does not help.

I have always experienced this problem with this router when using any non stock firmware (I.E all builds of DD-WRT that I tried seemed to exhibit the same behavior) otherwise I would have said it was a problem specific to only this hardware. If left long enough (Several hours) eventually the device will receive it’s an IP address again. Stock firmware did not once exhibit this behavior in the 2 years+ I had it running.

Eventually I set the device’s IP address manually to the exact IP Address being offered by the DHCP server. The device was still unable to ping the gateway.
I then tried to set the device’s IP address to a random IP address (within the range of IP addresses the DHCP server could potentially serve) The device was still unable to ping the gateway. Finally I set the device IP address outside of the range being offered by the DHCP server and then it was able to communicate with the gateway.

I have attached the system log of when a device failed to acquire an IP address. I have replaced all mac addresses and IP addresses with randomly generated mac addresses and IP addresses. ‘1b:ac:8b:93:55:ba’ is the device struggling to acquire the IP address. It is a MacBook Pro. If memory serves correctly devices requesting an IP address in the same time period will also fail to acquire a IP address from the DHCP server, further testing is required for me to prove that though. Other services including NAT translation for pre-allocated devices appears to behave as expected. The gateway will function as expected in every other way. The log will show me successfully logging via my Android device during the time it was happening.

Today I’ve upgraded from OpenWrt 19.07.1 to 19.07.3 and noticed that latency for my WDR3600 router has increased more than threefold.

In OpenWrt 19.07.1 ping from my PC to the router (connected via a 1Gb wired connection, less than a meter) took approximately 0.250ms

In OpenWrt 19.07.3 ping is now 0.860ms on average.

I haven’t changed any settings after upgrading to OpenWrt 19.07.3.

This is quite a serious performance regression.

When I was carrying out the tests I had zero load and zero Internet traffic, so the router CPU was completely idle.

After reboot only the power light flashes white and it becomes unreachable.

This is the case with release 19. If it was the same with 18 I don’t remember.

The solution for now is upgrade via tftp with factory image but that makes restoring not easy because of lost settings and changed ip address.

I just upgraded my perfectly working TP-Link TL-WDR4900 v1 from LEDE 17 to the latest OpenWRT firmware available: 19.07.03

Unfortunately now, some WiFi 2.4GHz clients got stuck on wifi, they cannot even ping the router, the only way to fix it is to manually disconnect and reconnect them.

Boot OpenWRT as per the instructions at OpenWRT QEMU Documentation on an arm64 virtual machine.

 

When hosted in a QEMU virtual machine on arm64 (aarch64), OpenWRT is unable to shut down.
QEMU supports two shutdown methods on arm64, ACPI and QEMU Guest Agent

ACPI on arm64 requires UEFI support, which is not enabled in the armvirt-64 kernel.

QEMU Guest Agent has a package for OpenWRT but the package is broken due to the base implementation of OpenWRT.
QEMU Guest Agent forks a process that calls /sbin/shutdown with several flags when ordered to shut down.
/sbin/shutdown does not exist in the base system.
The flags passed are not compatible with /sbin/poweroff.

This is solved with a simple script:
/sbin/shutdown:

Ideally support for armvirt-64 should move to uefi, since that is the expected supported method of booting a arm64 virtual machine.
This would require the addition of CONFIG_EFI_STUB to the armvirt-64 kernel config.
It would also require changing the armvirt-64 packaging to include the kernel efi image in the root file system, and/or add a bootloader such as grub.

Client

Client WIFI chip and driver: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 running newest driver version 20.70.16.4 (driver date: 01/01/2020)

Steps to reproduce:

1. initialize default settings, then remove wpad-basic and install wpad-openssl OR hostapd-openssl to enable WPA3 AP mode
2. leave 802.11w to default setting which is “Required” 3. set country setting, ssid, and etc. as required such as radius for EAP
4 if use WPA2-PSK or WPA2-EAP with default settings, everything works fine.

5. switch WIFI (AC/N) to WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE mixed mode (sae+ccmp or something like that) OR WPA2-EAP/WPA3-EAP mixed mode (wpa3-mixed+ccmp or something like that)
6. apply settings wait until effective or reboot to take effect

6.1 __ssid won't come up on 802.11g/n interface__ if in PSK/SAE mixed mode.

7. Client (Intel 8265) won’t be able to connect to SSID,

7.1 if ssid would come up (802.11a/ac), it would be seen on client scan, but the client (Intel 8265) won't be able to connect to SSID, reports "Can't connect", in EAP mode, router side log "Deauthenticated due to local request" after "EAP-SUCCESS"

8. switch 802.11w to other settings, including “Optional”, problem remains, router config file /etc/config/wireless would list “option ieee80211w ‘1’” 9. switch 802.11w to other settings, including “Optional”, problem still remains, router config file /etc/config/wireless will be missing the “option ieee80211w” completely, and it seems wpad or hostapd would assume “optional” (code ‘1’) as default value instead of the documented “disabled” (code ‘0’).

Steps to workaround:

Manually set “option ieee80211w ‘0’” in /etc/config/wireless to disable 802.11w and don’t update settings through LUCI on the problematic ssid, restart wifi. Everything would work.

Hi- I hope everyone is doing well.

We’ve got some builds that use the openwrtorg/rootfs:armvirt-32-19.07.2 Docker image; they run around 1600 UTC each day as well as any time somebody amends a related pull request (normally between 0000 UTC to 1000 UTC, our working day for Perth, Australia).

Occasionally, we get failures due to packages missing in OpenWrt (curiously, it’s usually GCC)- more commonly during our morning.

I _think_ this may be a byproduct of the OpenWrt nightly builds happening and the packages being rebuilt, it may be that https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/19.07.2/packages/arm_cortex-a15_neon-vfpv4/packages/ is the actual build output folder (and so during a build, the contents may change).

I’ve had a look at the timestamps at that URL, I’m not sure what timezone they’re in, but they’re mostly around the 0100 to 0500 range- if this is UTC and my suspicions are correct, then that would definitely cause an increase of this issue during our morning (which is what we see).

I don’t think it’s related to any Docker build cache funniness- we wipe that at 1900 UTC each day.

While you won’t reliably be able to reproduce, here’s a simple test case (requiring Docker for Mac/Windows, or Docker for Linux with docker buildx configured):

- docker run –rm -it openwrtorg/rootfs:armvirt-32-19.07.2 sh
- mkdir /var/lock
- opkg update && opkg install gcc

I’ve attached a log excerpts from our CI system of one such failure.

I have a connection problem between PS4 slim in the 5.8 Ghz band
I am using a TpLink C59 OpenWrt router 19.07.3 r11063-85e04e9f46
All the devices work well in the 5.8GHz band but the PS4 does not link in the 5.8Hz band instead the PS4 works well in the 2.8Ghz band. I have this problem since I migrated to 19.07 with the previous version 18.06 the PS4 worked fine in band 5.8 Ghz
With all three versions of 19.07 the problem is the same.
I am using the Ar71xx driver but the problem repeats with Ath79
The PS4 works OK with other Access Points in band 5.8 Ghz
The failure also occurs without encryption and with a fixed IP.
From another device the ping fails when I ping against the PS4 in band 5.8 Ghz
Using the 2.4 GHz radio all OK
Someone had a similar problem.
