It can’t recognize the attached USB storage device(a disk bay,Terra Master DAS) when the device plugin USB3.0 port.

I run OpenWRT on my x86 PC(Lenovo tiny series, UEFI+amd64), use the latest 21.02 stable version, squashfs+efi, and burn into USB drive via Rufus, all new flash, no upgrade, no restore backup configuration.
I totally follow this guide to configure extroot, of course enablemodified the partition /dev/sda1 and something like that. But after reboot I found Extroot partition don’t mount automatic as expected.
Try some times still not work I found not checked enable on luci,so I add

option enabled '1'

in /etc/config/fstab, but still don’t work property. I also follow troublshooting on that article increase delay_root, not work, but true, mount it without problems from a shell after boot.

I search and found this report:https://bugs.openwrt.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=2231, looks a patch in it but I don’t know how to compile and hope use pre-compile stable release. It’s old issue, but it still not marked as completed. I don’t know if it’s relevant.

In the subject-mentioned kernel cpufreq modules are missing. There is also no package to “reinstall” them. So you can not change the cpu governor or set cpu frequency.

According to the cpu manual (Mips 32 34kc V5.6)

* Minimum frequency: 0 MHz * Power-down mode (triggered by WAIT instruction)
* Support for software-controlled clock divider
* Support for extensive use of fine-grained clock gating

so powersave modes should be possible. power/frequency related modules are available on x86.

By default, luci PPPoE (and probably other PPP-based) interface page doesn’t set any value for `network.<iface>.keepalive`, so in the absence of that /lib/netifd/proto/ppp.sh
sets values lcp-echo-interval=1 and lcp-echo-failure=5. First, every 1 second is too frequent (which can lead to connectivity issues, as said in FS#2819), next, they don’t correspond to the defaults displayed in luci (`0` for “LCP echo failure threshold” and `5` for “LCP echo interval”), and worse of all, they are impossible to be disabled by using luci, as any attempt to set “LCP echo failure threshold” to 0 makes luci to just delete network.<iface>.keepalive with the aforementioned consequences. The only workaround is to set “keepalive” through uci command line.

VM x86_64 router upgraded from 19.07.8. Router has 512M memory. VM was flashed from 19.07.8 with the squashfs image.
- Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.
This occurs on 21.02.0; the MAC override feature worked at least nominally in earlier versions; the interface would correctly reflect the overridden MAC address.

Network→Interfaces→Devices→Configure set the override MAC field to desired MAC address. Save, reboot (just to be 100% certain). MAC address remains as before the change.
Please note that the new MAC address *is* reflected in the system. “uci show network” does indeed show the change in a new section network.@device[0].macaddr, so LuCI seems to be making a change. It is just that the system proper seems to ignore the change.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install OpenWRT 21.02.0 Stable as a fresh install.
  2. Visit 192.168.1.1 and sign into Luci (with no password since it is a fresh install), go to System → Administration and assign a password
  3. Close the browser window
  4. Login through SSH and enable HTTPS-redirect for Luci (as mentioned in the release notes: https://openwrt.org/releases/21.02/notes-21.02.0)
  5. Open a new browser window in Incognito-mode
  6. Visit 192.168.1.1 (should be redirected to HTTPS and may get browser warning about being unsafe)
  7. Try to sign into Luci (should get message that the user/password is incorrect)

I have tried clearing my browser cookies, tried disabling the HTTPS redirect, restarted the router manually (power switch on device), tried using the “passwd” command to reset the password (and then restarted the router manually).

No matter what, I cannot login into the router ever again after enabling HTTPS redirect for Luci (even if the redirect is turned off and router restarted). I can, strangely, log into the router through SSH with the password I set for root.

I had to login through SSH and run the (cant remember exact) command to reset the router as if I just installed OpenWRT in order to gain access again.

This is a quick/easy demonstration on how simply an OpenWRT router can be DoS attacked.

There is a hard coded MAX_PROCS which defaults to 20. This clearly is too high for resource constrained systems like OpenWRT routers.

There is a discussion of this problem on the dnsmasq ML @ https://lists.thekelleys.org.uk/pipermail/dnsmasq-discuss/2021q1/014907.html which includes a patch to make MAX_PROCS a run-time tunable. This could be used by OpenWRT to scale up/down the MAX_PROCS value based on the size of system it’s running on.

It could/should be user-overridable in case he/she knows better what the value should be than any attempt by OpenWRT to scale on a given router.

If no other interface is defined on the underlying phy device (eg eth1) PPPoE fails to connect and loops continually. Speculatively, the issue seems to be that netifd does not bring up the lower device before starting the daemon; it works by default because another interface is defined for that device, causing it to be live when the pppoe daemon runs.

Steps to reproduce:
On a default installation, WAN and WAN6 are initially defined respectively as DHCP and DHCPV6 interfaces on the same underlying device, eg eth1. Switching the WAN protocol to PPPoE succeeds and connection works as it should.

However, if you delete WAN6, or alter it so that it does not use the same (eg eth1) device, PPPoE will not connect again the next time it’s started and will loop.

If you then create a new interface on the WAN‘s underlying device (eg eth1) using some other protocol which forces the device up, such as static IP using 0.0.0.0/32 as the address, this is sufficient to keep the device alive, and PPPoE works as it should.

I just tried to run the new release on an Omega2+ from Onion. There is an ADC extension board available for these devices that uses the TI ADS1115. On 19.07 it was possible to use the ADC extension when installing the package kmod-hwmon-ads1015. On 21.02 this package does still exist but does not install any files. I’m assuming this has something to do with this change in the upstream kernel:

Eventually the interface will drop the default gateway for some reason, reflected in the internet access on devices connected to the wlan. Restarting this VLAN interface will instantly fix the problem and connected devices can access the internet again.

I’m having a problem with TXPower with my MediaTek 2.4GHz radio on my R6220 Netgear unit flashed with the latest version of OpenWRT, changing the TX power down to 1 dBm all the way down from 20 has no effect on range or RX power seen by devices. The 5GHz radio does not have this problem, and changing the Tx power has a significant effect on both real world range and signal in dBm. I have tried downgrading software with no luck. Any ideas?

- On both 18.06 and 19.07, tried rolling back.
- Tried reflashing to new OS with no luck
- Netgear R6220
- 2.4GHz Radio with TX Power Issues: MediaTek MT7603E 802.11bgn
- 5GHz Radio That Works Fine: MediaTek MT76x2E 802.11acn

Usually the device works just fine (only a Wifi-Repeater and Wifi-to-eth-bridge).
Sometimes it is not possible to use one or both eth ports.

The logread just spams the following line every seconds:

kern.warn kernel: 803x_aneg_done: SGMII link is not ok

Since this was the first message in the log, I dont know if there are previous errors which help find the problem.
Restarting the network does not help, only rebooting over ssh solves the issue.

After upgrading from 19.07 to 21.02 I found out issues with IP addresses given by my ISP. I found out that the MAC address of the WAN port has changed instead of LAN (before LAN started with 26 and WAN 24 but after upgrading it was the opposite - LAN started with 24 and WAN with 26). It is a very confusing behavior and addressing and IMO it should stay as it was in previous versions.

I tried rc4 of OpenWRT 21.02.0 on my Atheros C60 v2 and WDS stopped working.
WDS is used for forwarding a wired client on the same subnet of the wifi network.
I found the wireless client associated to my Atheros C60 access point

but I’m unable even to ping it.
Even if I set up a fixed IP address on both the wireless and the wired clients, they can’t connect to the router.
Other clients are connected to the Atheros C60 access point without problems.
I never had a problem with previous version of OpenWRT, so I went back to rc3 and everything started working again.

The only extra package installed is relayd

- Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.
OpenWrt v19.07.7
- Steps to reproduce
1) From the Wiki at https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/mir3c flash the sysupgrade image: http://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/19.07.7/targets/ramips/mt76x8/openwrt-19.07.7-ramips-mt76x8-miwifi-nano-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin 2) Device does not boot anymore

The problem is the dts MIWIFI-NANO.dts defines a incompatible layout of the flash, which ends up flashing OpenWrt to the wrong part of the flash.
The OEM partition layout is:

with emphasis on OS1 and OS2.

However MIWIFI-NANO.dts defines firmware partition as:

The bootloader will boot either OS1 or OS2 → we get an unbootable device.

Now we have two similar devices, MiWifi Nano R1 and R3L/R3C with different partition layout but the wiki proposes to flash the same image: https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/mir3c https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/miwifi_nano I personally still use my R3L so I would propose we add a new device type that could cover R3L.
