16.09.20192507Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowmdadm segfault due to ASLR on kirkwood/generic/zyxel_ns...openwrt-18.06Unconfirmed Task Description

In OpenWrt 18.06.4, r7808-ef686b7292 on Zyxel NSA325v2 (kirkwood/generic/zyxel_nsa325) mdadm segafults due to ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization).

Workaround that works for me is adding kernel.randomize_va_space=0 to /etc/sysctl.conf.

I posted some more details to forum in https://forum.openwrt.org/t/raid-not-working-on-18-06-0/18498

I will be happy to provide more information.

Thanks,

Tomas

16.09.20192505Base systemBug ReportVery LowMediumuci doubling list entriesTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

Hello.
Im facing some problems with UCI C API and really want to know if im doing something wrong or it is a bug, that has to be fixed.

The version of UCI is `commit 415f9e48436d29f612348f58f546b3ad8d74ac38’, the version of libubox is `commit ecf56174da9614a0b3107d33def463eefb4d7785’. Built with `gcc (Ubuntu 7.4.0-1ubuntu1~18.04.1) 7.4.0’. Tell me if you need more information about my system.

You can observe my code in the attached file. There im trying to add two list entries to the `lan’ section of `dhcp’ UCI package.
If i execute it and then cat config file i get:
[~] > cat /etc/config/dhcp

config dhcp ‘lan’ list my_list ‘my_first_entry’ list my_list ‘my_second_list_entry’ list my_list ‘my_first_entry’ list my_list ‘my_second_list_entry’

So every line i add with uci_add_list is beein doubled.

But!
When i uncomment lines and delete list first (it could not even exist) i get correct output:
[~] > cat /etc/config/dhcp

config dhcp ‘lan’ list my_list ‘my_first_entry’ list my_list ‘my_second_list_entry’

If im adding list entry via console, add_list works just as expected. I read the code, but i was unable to find any key differences comparing to mine.

Thanks for you attention.

16.09.20192501Base systemBug ReportVery LowMediumOpenWRT Bug with WPA2-EAP on Linksys WRT3200ACMopenwrt-18.06Unconfirmed Task Description

There is a bug, when you are using a Linksys WRT3200ACM and there is a network with wpa2-eap encryption. You are getting diconnected after one or two hours. It reconnects after a few minutes. This issue only appears with the wpa2-eap encryption method. The wpa2-psk encryption works fine. I am using "OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292" and "wpad 2018-05-21-62566bc2-6". The RADIUS-Server is a Windows-Server and the Linksys AP is only a pass-through.

My wireless config:

config wifi-iface
	option device 'radio1'
	option mode 'ap'
	option ssid 'RADIUS-NETWORK'
	option network '115_RADIUS'
	option disassoc_low_ack '0'
	option encryption 'wpa2+ccmp'
	option auth_server 'XXX'
	option auth_secret 'XXX'
	option ieee80211r '1'
	option ft_over_ds '0'
	option ft_psk_generate_local '1'
	option nasid 'AccessPoint5'

15.09.20192495Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowucert rebuild within SDK segfaults on Debian 10 and Ubu...TrunkNew Task Description

Using the 19.07-SNAPSHOT SDK build Sept 12 (last successful build by the buildbots it looks like), and current openwrt-19.07 branch on the feeds, if doing signed build, the build fails due to ucert segfaulting (this is on Debian 10).

ldd staging_dir/host/bin/ucert shows:

      linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffd03d63000)
      libubox.so => /home/daniel/Build/sdk-19.07-ath79/staging_dir/host/lib/libubox.so (0x00007ff0db3b0000)
      libblobmsg_json.so => /home/daniel/Build/sdk-19.07-ath79/staging_dir/host/lib/libblobmsg_json.so (0x00007ff0db3a8000)
      libjson-c.so.2 => /home/daniel/Build/sdk-19.07-ath79/staging_dir/host/lib/libjson-c.so.2 (0x00007ff0db398000)
      libc.so.6 => /home/daniel/Build/sdk-19.07-ath79/staging_dir/host/lib/libc.so.6 (0x00007ff0daff8000)
      /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007ff0db3c8000)

I’m wondering if the problem is due to using host instead SDK libraries.

14.09.20192494Base systemFeature RequestVery LowVery LowImplement system to allow LuCI to display messages prio...AllUnconfirmed Task Description

Currently there is no system to alert users to possible issues they may encounter when flashing a new image. This has led to certain features being delayed or even withheld (the switch from swconfig → DSA is a good example). Simply put there is no way to alert the average user to configuration breaking changes a new image might make.

A short header that contains important information could be inserted into OpenWrt images. The header is parsed and displayed via LuCI if certain criteria are/aren’t met. This could be something as simple as a image version check or something more complex like configuration and package comparisons.

This is really more of a forward looking feature, but it would allow more drastic changes (changes that cannot be migrated) be made between OpenWrt versions.

14.09.20192493Base systemBug ReportVery LowLow5g wifi fails on Linksys WRT1900AC hostpadopenwrt-18.06Unconfirmed Task Description

- Device problem occurs on

 Linksys WRT1900AC

- Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.

 OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292 with ipv6 disabled

- Steps to reproduce

  • via LuCI with 2g radios enabled on radio0 (2g works as expected)
  • Turn radio1 on with ac mode, Transmit Power auto, Hide ESSID ticked, channel 36, wmm off, Encryption WPA2, Cipher CCMP, Krack countermeasures ticked, Short preamble ticked, Disassociate on low acknowledgement ticked
  • On initial save, a laptop will connect successfully and be able to browse the web – once a change is made, like changing the channel, access to LuCI is temporarily lost and the 5g light on the unit goes off.
  • Once this occurs, no device can see the 5g SSID anymore.. once access to LuCI comes back, the 5g radio still shows as enabled

When building an image (from git commit 81764319637f408623ed9f4bae3f0d149b010f07) from already built imagebuilder for ar71xx target, the build fails at the end (after “Finalizing root filesystem”) because of missing ‘mips-openwrt-linux-musl’. I searched the original build directory in openwrt tree and this lib seems to be to find (among others) in:

./staging_dir/toolchain-mips_24kc_gcc-8.3.0_musl/mips-openwrt-linux-musl

but for some reason is not saved into the imagebuilder image.

This is the message from the end of imagebuilder build.

07.09.20192484Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowdnsmasq UCI configuration dhcp.@host[n].ip needs to be ...TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

UCI configuration

dhcp.@host[n].ip

needs to be optional.

According to http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/docs/dnsmasq-man.html . dhcp-host isn’t just for static leases, it can be used to specify lease time, hostname etc, so IP isn’t mandatory. Their example is “For example –dhcp-host=00:20:e0:3b:13:af,wap,infinite tells dnsmasq to give the machine with hardware address 00:20:e0:3b:13:af the name wap, and an infinite DHCP lease.”

OpenWrt currently ignores dhcp.@host[n], if IP isn’t provided. https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/base-system/dhcp#static_leases

07.09.20192483Base systemBug ReportVery LowMediumprocd: watchdog timeout is too high for sun8iTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

Device: Orange Pi M2 Ultra
Version: trunk
Steps to reproduce:
- build trunk with the DTS for Orange Pi M2 Ultra
- boot
- wait 10 seconds
- watchdog will reset the SoC

Problem:
- the default wdt_drv_timeout of procd is 30 seconds and cannot be changed in menuconfig (https://git.openwrt.org/?p=project/procd.git;a=blob_plain;f=watchdog.c;hb=refs/heads/master)
- the maximum timeout of the sun8i watchdog is 16 seconds (https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/tree/drivers/watchdog/sunxi_wdt.c?h=v4.19.71)
- wdt_frequency is not low enough to prevent the sun8i watchdog from resetting the SoC

I was able to mitigate the watchdog reset with the following patch to procd:

I’m sorry but I don’t know enough C to provide a patch that includes a configurable watchdog timeout in the main menuconfig for procd.

05.09.20192480Base systemBug ReportVery LowCriticalMainline ath10k causes crahes in ipq806x / R7800TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

The mainline ath10k mainly works in R7800, although it has some problems the show up in the logs as

"ath10k_pci 0001:01:00.0: SWBA overrun on vdev 0, skipped old beacon"

.

That seems to increase CPU utilisation somewhat, but the router still works.

Every now and then the router also crashes. I have attached a serial logger to the router, so I managed to capture the following crash series. 4-5 crashes during a few hours when the router was mainly idle.

Supply the following if possible:
- Device problem occurs on Orange PI One based board
- Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.
- Steps to reproduce

This happens with Quectel EC25 LTE modem (USB interface, 2c7c:0125). The board is based on Allwinner H3, using openwrt-19.07-snapshot (kernel 4.14.140).

Following is the configuration, that 4g_wan will not be enabled when booted. But the LED binded with wwan0 been actived even the 4g_wan does not be enabled.

config interface '4g_wan'
	option proto 'qmi'
	option device '/dev/cdc-wdm0'
	option auto '0'
config led 'led_modem'
	option name 'modem'
	option sysfs 'kooiot:green:modem'
	option trigger 'netdev'
	option mode 'link tx rx'
	option default '0'
	option dev 'wwan0'

Once we enabled the 4g_wan, and then disabled the 4g_wan, the LED will be turned off.

When system booted, ifconfig -a shows:

wwan0     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr AA:C8:51:F9:2A:67

when 4g_wan enabled and disabled, ifconfig -a shows:

Hi,

I have latest stable openwrt installed to my Xiaomi R3G router.
I have a port forward to a windows RDP.
When Flow offloading (Software flow offloading or both Hardware and Software flow offloading) enabled the RDP connection became slow and laggy, reconnects often.

If I disable flow offload, everything works fine.

I’ll try to look tcpdump/wireshark captures.

Thanks,
Laszlo

Tested device: Virtual x86_64
Software versions:
openwrt 18.06.4
netifd 2019-01-31-a2aba5c7-2.1

Reproduce:
* Use babeld as dynamic routing daemon.
* Verify that the main table contains routes inserted by babeld.
* Change one of metric, ip4table and defaultroute on a interface which have babeld’s routes in the main table.
* Run /etc/init.d/network reload
* The routes inserted by babeld for the above interface are now gone, which was unexpected.

It seems to be caused by the following section in interface.c:

        UPDATE(metric, reload_ip);
        UPDATE(proto_ip.no_defaultroute, reload_ip);
        UPDATE(ip4table, reload_ip);

I tested these images on wrt32x and wrt3600, but unfortunately I gave up there was a problem on wrt32x WIFI was breaking the computer and in the relayd wrt3600 → wrt32x the maximum speed on the bridge is 10Mb. I do not observe this for version 18.06 (images downloaded from eko.one.pl). And after disconnection I did not get full connection speed of 866.7 Mb / s to the router. Although I will say that options 19.07 in Lucia look encouraging.

Device problem occurs on: All
Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc: Every version I tried since at least Barrier Breaker
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LuCI
2. Log in to LuCI and go to System - Backup/Flash Firmware
3. Click “Generate archive” and download the config backup archive (backup-hostname-date.tar.gz) file
4. List the contents of that archive (ie. tar -tvzf backup-hostname-date.tar.gz)
5. etc/uhttpd.key and etc/uhttpd.crt files are contained twice in the archive

It’s just a cosmetic bug, but it is one I have been wondering about for years :)

18.08.20192449Base systemFeature RequestVery LowLow[u-boot] enable GPT supportTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description
  • kernel target: mvebujavascript:void(0);
  • u-boot target: clearfrog

—-

Whilst source provides GPT support (probably since around 2012) it seems to be lacking downstream however, indicated by:

  • attempt to boot from GPT device producing (which would be logical if u-boot does not understand the partition layout in the first place)
** Unrecognized filesystem type **

—-

MBR appears nowadays often being referred to as legacy partition table, also being less secure and less capable in comparison to GPT and thus this feature suggestion.

If I had coding abilities I would have certainly produced a PR instead of opening this task. Just got as far as discovering the build conf for u-boot https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=blob;f=package/boot/uboot-mvebu/Makefile;hb=552c48ea4375420cf3db1f91038a3f4eca47361b but then getting lost, also when trying to compare to source code.

Whilst the swap section in fstab features label such is curiously not available for mounting other fs.

It would be handy to able to mount partitions by their label (identifier) and thus this feature suggestion.

I think DNS Name should be supported because it’s ugly to use IP addresses. Setting an IPv6 server via “uci set” is possible though and actually works for me.

Ubiquiti Bullet M with AR7240 Rev 2 (AR7241 works fine)

first noticed in March 2019, replicated today on reboot-10753-gbcfd1d7685

- Steps to reproduce

Plug an ethernet cable, try to pass traffic, check interface status.

# dmesg | grep eth

Works fine on ar71xx. On IRC:

2019-02-24 17:53 gch981213: russell–: ar71xx has the ability to auto-detect many things but ath79 doesn’t. ar7240 and ar7241 can’t share the same dts on arh79 but they can use the same piece of machine code in ar71xx.

How to sensibly support both AR7240 and AR7241 in ath79 considering it is not easy to distinguish them externally?

13.08.20192440Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowRaspberry Pi 3 build does not seem to run in QEMUTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

I am interested in running a Raspberry Pi 3 OpenWrt image (built from commit 7ec092e6) in QEMU. My aim is to perform some testing of custom-built images before shipment. I am close to accomplishing this, but the kernel panics soon after booting.

I run QEMU With:

qemu-system-aarch64 -kernel build_dir/target-aarch64_cortex-a53_musl/linux-brcm2708_bcm2710/vmlinux -dtb build_dir/target-aarch64_cortex-a53_musl/linux-brcm2708_bcm2710/image-bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb -cpu cortex-a53 -m 256 -M raspi3 -append “root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4 rw” -hda openwrt-brcm2708-bcm2710-rpi-3-ext4-factory.img

The kernel crashes under these circumstances. I attached a screenshot I cobbled together that contains the kernel’s output.

I first mentioned this issue on the openwrt-devel mailing list (June 2, 2019, subject “Running Raspberry Pi 3 OpenWrt in QEMU”), and Petr Štetiar suggested I open a bug report here.

12.08.20192439Base systemBug ReportVery LowLowcomgt hotplug mishandles "bind" eventTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

My 3g modem goes “unavailable” shortly after being plugged in. Even though the device /dev/ttyUSB* exists, “ifup” has no effect and “ifstatus” shows:

{

      "up": false,
      "pending": false,
      "available": false,
      "autostart": true,
      "dynamic": false,
      "proto": "3g",
      "data": {
      },
      "errors": [
              {
                      "subsystem": "interface",
                      "code": "NO_DEVICE"
              }
      ]

}

I found that this is caused by incorrect logic at https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/blob/7ec092e64125b920aee6d1767dacea3f61b2fa6f/package/network/utils/comgt/files/3g.usb#L17

Namely, the “add” event is followed by “bind” event, which causes:

proto_set_available “$cfg” 0

And BTW, isn’t there a race condition with hotplug at https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/blob/7ec092e64125b920aee6d1767dacea3f61b2fa6f/package/network/utils/comgt/files/3g.sh#L38 ?

11.08.20192438OtherFeature RequestVery LowLowMigrate to GitLab or a similar platformTrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

As some other Open Source projects already did, migration to a different service like GitLab might be useful. The benefit is that code and issues (and automated building) can be managed in one place and more easily linked between each other. Also it would make contributions more streamlined and offers a better UI (and UX) for things like the issue tracker.

11.08.20192437Base systemFeature RequestVery LowMediumAdd algorithm for auto channel selection (ACS)TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

Apparently OpenWrt currently does not offer an algorithm for auto channel selection of a wireless channel. Instead it just always seems to default to channel 1 if autochannel is activated. This is not the intended behaviour and not what a user expects. So I suggest adding some selection algorithm to it (there is already available at least one, so it should not be too hard to add it).

I don’t know if it is relevant, but the only thing different from normal is I had tcpdump sending data to Wireshark overnight (a single host on port 53, so it wasn’t terribly busy).

 openwrt 18.06 -> latest snapshot

- Steps to reproduce

  1. Run
    sysupgrade -v openwrt-ramips-mt7621-ubiquiti_edgerouterx-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
05.08.20192428Base systemBug ReportVery LowCriticalath79: sysupgrade will brick devices with RedBoot bootl...TrunkUnconfirmed Task Description

The current code responsible for upgrading devices with sysupgrade image, doesn’t take in to the account that “FIS” partition and “RedBoot config” partition can be on the same erase block. This can cause erasing the “RedBoot config” partition and make the device inoperable. The recovery would involve external SPI programmer or usage of JTAG.

The cause is still assumption so it will need confirmation. Flashing devices with factory image should be safe.

- Device problem occurs on:

   Ubiquiti RouterStation and RouterStation Pro
   jjPlus JA76PF2
   Adtran BSAP1880, BSAP1800 V2 and BSAP1840

- Software versions of OpenWrt release, packages, etc.:

   master and possibly 19.07

- Steps to reproduce

   syupgrade the device

01.08.20192420Base systemBug ReportVery LowMediumNo more masquerading after "ifdown wan; ifup wan"openwrt-18.06Unconfirmed Task Description

hw: TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1
arch: Atheros AR9344 rev 2
sw: OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292 / LuCI openwrt-18.06 branch (git-19.170.32094-4d6d8bc)

Network:
lan
pppoe-wan ipv4 plus dhcpv6 client

Issue:
After “ifdown wan; ifup wan” there is no more masquerading done to outgoing packets. Source address of those packets from lan to pppoe-wan are unchanged.

Solution (works for me):
In /etc/hotplug.d/iface/20-firewall change the last line
fw3 -q reload
to
fw3 -q restart
