Supply the following if possible:

  • Device problem occurs on: Archer C7v2
  • Software versions of LEDE release, packages, etc.: 17.01 final
  • Steps to reproduce: just install default packages

By default, SQM and BCP38 packages configure rules on eth1, but on C7 this is LAN interface and not WAN. Both must be changed to apply default configuration to eth0.
This behaviour cames from OpenWRT.

Speaking to the sqm-scripts issue only: the user will need to configure sqm-scripts in any way before it will become useful, so the defaults are in no wat guaranteed to lead to a rationally working shaper instance. While it sure seems nice to always propose the WAN interface by default, this is harder than it seems as this is a policy question the local administrator needs to answer, and it is totally valid to instantiate sqm-scripits on LAN interfaces as well as WAN interfaces (and you can have multiple instances on different interfaces). So I humbly propose to leave things as they are right now (well, it might be a good idea to homogenize the ethN interface used for WAN, but I believe that actually happenened and eth1 was selected, so I am a bit confuzed by this report).

If the default behavior is wan, than why use a random interface as eth1 as the default? It doesn't really make sense. If people want to go away from the default they have that right, but default should be the most commonly used and preferred method of use.
