Device problem occurs on is Asus RT-N12 B1

lede-17.01.0-rc2-r3131-42f3c1f-brcm47xx-mips74k-asus-rt-n12-b1-squashfs.trx

Switch is not recognized so a WAN is not available. Switch was automatically recognized in OpenWrt 15.05.1 and only issue with network was that WAN was initially set on swith port 0 when it should have been set on switch port 4.

dmesg output from lede 17.01.0-rc2:

The switch seems to be properly detected, the issue is probably that it's not configured.

This was likely broken in https://git.lede-project.org/?p=source.git;a=commit;h=b0b8293b7e0cf6102dca56b47bf25a92b8feba66

Raylynn, can you provide the output of /proc/cpuinfo on the running system? (with LEDE)

Followup from me and with a RT-N12D1 Router (D1 instead of B1) and Lede 17.01.2:
I believe all Asus RT-N12/16 have switched switch ports, I saw similar discussions on TomatoUsb/Shibby.
When installing a Lede firmware, on first start WAN and LAN1-3 ports are bridged, so if you are lucky behind another router this one will answer your dhcp request. I was able to ssh in with ipv6 local link, and then change vlans:
uci set network.@switch_vlan[0].ports='0 1 2 3 5t' # was '1 2 3 4 5t' before
uci set network.@switch_vlan[1].ports='4 5t' # was '0 5t' before
uci commit network

and after next reboot the switch did work as expected. This little change is all to make Asus RT-N1x routers happy (save the wireless problem on another issue - 797).

Correcting this in the build can probably be done in source/target/linux/brcm47xx/base-files/etc/board.d/01_detect. The heuristic based on nvram contents fails as these routers erroneously report
root@LEDE:# nvram get vlan0ports
1 2 3 4 5*
root@LEDE:
# nvram get vlan1ports
0 5

and that is wrong, as these routers have the numbering reversed. One must add the RT-N12/RT-N12D1 and probably RT-N16 to the detect_by_model() subroutine, where they should go to the ruleset starting with "Asus WL500GP V2".

Ah, and btw to anwer Baptiste Jonglez's question with my D1 router:

Can you please apply the following fix to /etc/board.d/01_detect, delete /etc/config/network, reboot and check if the config is properly generated?

I can confirm that adding those two line to 01_detect fixes the issue at least on the Asus RT-N12-D1
