bittorf:

after sysupgrade from OpenWrt r49276 to LEDE r3315 on commandline
without any issues, i had to solder serial console to a 1043nd-v1:

i have seen this before and will try to reproduce it now...is this
maybe something which was introduced by the rework if ar71xx-image building process?

Can you try flashing the same image again using the boot loader?
I suspect that maybe the image is fine and something happened during flashing.

i have flashed again and again (old-2-new-2-old...) and it does not happen again. please close for now...maybe mtd needs a "verify write" 8-)

Hi Felix, Hi Bastian,

I ran into this on my 1043nd-v1 when trying to upgrade from 17.01.1 to 17.01.2. Since flashing the upgrade firmware (https://downloads.lede-project.org/releases/17.01.2/targets/ar71xx/generic/lede-17.01.2-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin) it goes into a boot loop ending in a kernel panic and a restart of the device.

Bastian, could you point me in the direction of the instructions you used to re-flash your 1043nd-v1?

So far I haven't been able to convince it to pxeboot from tfpt or enter failsafe mode. It was only after I took a breadboard to it and hooked the serial port up to the gpio pins on a raspberry pi that I got it to tell me what was going on during the boot process.

Thanks in advance.

kev.

For anyone who finds this the piece of the puzzle I was missing was to type tpl in the 1 second when the boot process got to the 'Autobooting in 1 seconds' spot as described at https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd.

I was then able to flash the new image from a laptop I'd set up as a TFTP server.

Sorry for bumping this closed issue.
