FS#2449 - [u-boot] enable GPT support

  • kernel target: mvebujavascript:void(0);
  • u-boot target: clearfrog

Whilst source provides GPT support (probably since around 2012) it seems to be lacking downstream however, indicated by:

  • attempt to boot from GPT device producing (which would be logical if u-boot does not understand the partition layout in the first place)
** Unrecognized filesystem type **

MBR appears nowadays often being referred to as legacy partition table, also being less secure and less capable in comparison to GPT and thus this feature suggestion.

If I had coding abilities I would have certainly produced a PR instead of opening this task. Just got as far as discovering the build conf for u-boot;a=blob;f=package/boot/uboot-mvebu/Makefile;hb=552c48ea4375420cf3db1f91038a3f4eca47361b but then getting lost, also when trying to compare to source code.
