Ubiquiti Bullet M with AR7240 Rev 2 (AR7241 works fine)
Software versions of OpenWrt/LEDE release, packages, etc.
first noticed in March 2019, replicated today on reboot-10753-gbcfd1d7685
Steps to reproduce
Plug an ethernet cable, try to pass traffic, check interface status.
# dmesg | grep eth
[ 1.259129] ag71xx 19000000.eth: connected to PHY at mdio-bus.0:1f:04 [uid=00000000, driver=Generic PHY]
[ 1.269672] eth0: Atheros AG71xx at 0xb9000000, irq 4, mode: mii
[ 8.504454] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
[ 27.608176] br-pub: port 1(eth0) entered blocking state
[ 27.613435] br-pub: port 1(eth0) entered disabled state
[ 27.619234] device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
Works fine on ar71xx. On IRC:
2019-02-24 17:53 gch981213: russell–: ar71xx has the ability to auto-detect many things but ath79 doesn’t. ar7240 and ar7241 can’t share the same dts on arh79 but they can use the same piece of machine code in ar71xx.
How to sensibly support both AR7240 and AR7241 in ath79 considering it is not easy to distinguish them externally?
