I recently updated my D-Link DIR-600 to OpenWrt 18.06.4. As I recall, the previous running version was from the 17.* branch line which worked like a charm. Since the update to 18, the configuration is no longer saved when altered (through LuCI). I suspect the flash size may be too small for this device.

Yes, rootfs_data is 256KB, it's 4 erasesize, and jffs2 requires at least 5 to work.

The best chance is to strip down the configuration and build your own image.
