mwlwifi module makes reg domain behave bad when there is also another wifi adapter in the router. For example WRT3200ACM has another wifi module unused in the original firmware that males OpenWrt to set country 98 in the global setting. The main developer of the module say that he is going to make mwlwifi to not mess with the global country code kaloz/mwlwifi#280 (comment) but there is nothing done upstream yet.

Anyways exists downstream a patch that makes mwlwifi behave as other modules like ath ones that let you set the global country code without messing it https://github.com/ValCher1961/McDebian_WRT3200ACM/wiki/%23-Free-REGDOMAIN
The patch is this one https://github.com/ValCher1961/McDebian_WRT3200ACM/blob/master/kernel-4.14.X/patch.regfree
It could be great if this patch could be included in OpenWrt till upstream solves the country code issue.
