Hello,
There is no info in /etc/os-release that tells directly which major version of OpenWrt I'm using. Both VERSION and VERSION_ID are the same '18.06.0'
VERSION_ID should be a field for sw to know which version it is running on. Generally, it cares about major releases, not "level of bug fixing".
IMHO, VERSION_ID should be only '18.06' as ubuntu does.
