Dear OpenWrt Team,

Please enable TCP BBR congestion control for kernel 4.9 + 4.14. It is available since kernel 4.9 and reported to allow significant performance boost for TCP.

Thank you!

I have found a better source and description of TCP BBR (author itself).

Is your traffic being generated on the openwrt device itself or elsewhere, ie. are you using it as a router?

BBR is not a silver bullet as this article by Geoff Houston suggests, to the extent that Google themselves are working on a BBR2 to address the outcompeting/fairness problem.

I use openwrt (version: snapshot) on my router ( TP-Link WR-1043ND V1).
I am not asking to set BBR as a default congestion control delivered by the project, but would be nice if it would be available. Then users can decide which one works better for them.

Any decision on my request?

Having it in a router I also don't seem much or any benefit either.

If it's to have as optional and not default then seems fine.
There may be situations where OpenWrt may used to serve content, maybe in a appliance based in OpenWrt that does that then BBR could be of some benefit.

Sounds great. Can't wait to have it compiled into kernel and do tests. Thank you for considering my request!
