mgondium:

Unstable interface link on tplink 710nd/v1 running trunk/ath79, somewhat similar to what happens on the 841nd/v9.
This is a different site and application and I've seen it in at least 4 devices, only on the AG71xx MII mode link.
As before, the only remedy is to go back to ar7x/9x.

I have similar problems [[https://forum.openwrt.org/t/archer-c60-wan-disconnects/68896]] and [[https://forum.openwrt.org/t/udhcpc-does-not-work-correctly/69774]].

@ Franco Castillo

I'm running trunk on a few routers that have no link problems whatsoever (archer C6, 1043NDv1, 2543ND), and the difference to those who have problems (710Nv1, 841NDv9, and your C60) is that the ethernet is external (Gbit). The problem ones have it internal to the SoC (100Mbit), so it's probably the driver.

francocastillo:

Are you saying the problem is caused by connecting to a 1Gbps device? Because that is my case. I have the WAN interface connected to the cable modem which is 1 Gbps.

mgondium:

No, I'm saying that I only see this problem on devices that use the SoC internal PHY, the others have an external switch (and are, coincidentally or not, gigabit).

francocastillo:

And how do I know if my router's switch is internal or external?

@openwrt-bot
Copy link
Author

mgondium:

It's internal when you have the same reference for the cpu and the switch:
https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/tp-link/tp-link_archer_c60_v2

CPU:Qualcomm Atheros QCA9561
Switch:Qualcomm Atheros QCA9561

francocastillo:

Yes, I am intuiting that it was internal by the same name. So is it a driver problem?

@openwrt-bot

mgondium:

This appears to be fixed by commit 86fdc8a, need more runtime to confirm.

francocastillo:

Apparently I see that in my case it was solved.

mgondium:

I confirm that is fixed.
